11am Impaired Driving Charge for Guelph Man
A Guelph man faces an impaired driving charge after a traffic stop Wednesday morning.
Approximately 11 a.m. officers were conducting proactive enforcement outside a business on Speedvale Avenue East when they observed a male exit the business and get into the driver’s seat of a vehicle which was parked on an angle.
A traffic stop was conducted and officers detected an odour of alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath. He failed a roadside breath test and was transported to the police station, where further testing confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.
A 48-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He will appear in court January 9.

Anyone who spots a suspected impaired driver is asked to immediately call 911.
