2 Men Assaulted While Waiting to Enter Downtown Business

A Guelph man faces charges after two men were assaulted while waiting in line to enter a downtown business Saturday morning.

Approximately 1:45 a.m. two men attended the police station to report they were assaulted by an unknown male while waiting to enter a licensed establishment. Investigation revealed the victims were trying to enter the business when the third male approached and they began arguing.

One of the males was punched in the face. When his friend tried to intervene he was picked up and thrown to the ground, striking his head and briefly losing consciousness. The second victim was transported to hospital for medical treatment.

The suspect was arrested Saturday afternoon. A 33-year-old Guelph man is charged with assault and assault causing bodily harm. He will appear in court February 9.
