A family experienced a startling incident when their garage caught fire just after parking their project car inside in the East-end of Guelph. This vehicle, a labour of love between a father and his son, burst into flames under circumstances that led to a quick response from the family.
The young man and his girlfriend, who were near the car at the time, managed to escape unharmed and alerted the rest of the family, ensuring everyone was safely evacuated from the house. The fire did spread to inside of the house and damages are considered substantial.
Regrettably, the fire resulted in the loss of one of the family’s cats, while the other is currently being cared for by a veterinarian. The local community has rallied around the family, providing support and expressing their condolences through messages on social media platforms like the Facebook group Caught in Guelph.
This event marks the fourth significant fire in the Guelph area recently, yet it stands out for the swift action taken by the family and the subsequent community support. While the incident was not deemed suspicious, it highlights the unpredictability of such accidents and the importance of community in times of need. The family, though shaken by the loss and the damage, is appreciative of the concern and assistance from their neighbors as they begin to recover from this unexpected event.
