A Guelph man has been arrested after falsely reporting his luxury SUV stolen earlier this year.
In late July a west-end resident reported his 2025 Cadillac Escalade – valued at nearly $200,000 – had been stolen from his driveway while the family was out of town for the weekend.
During an investigation, officers spoke to several neighbours and none recalled ever seeing an Escalade at the complainant’s address. Footage from several cameras was viewed and none show the vehicle in the driveway during the time it was allegedly stolen. The location of the vehicle is unknown.
On Friday a 39-year-old Guelph man was arrested for public mischief and fraud over $5,000. He will appear in court October 24.
