Arrest After Reports of Impaired Driver Weaving into Oncoming Lanes

A Guelph woman is charged with impaired driving after she was arrested late Thursday.

Approximately 11:40 p.m. police received a report of a possible impaired driver. A witness described the vehicle weaving within its lane and driving into oncoming lanes.

Officers attended the owner’s address and found the SUV in the driveway with the lights illuminated and the owner sitting in the driver’s seat. While speaking to her officers detected a strong odour of alcohol.

She was arrested and transported to the police station, where tests revealed she had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in her system.

A 49-year-old Guelph woman is charged with impaired driving. Her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for seven days. She will appear in court September 9.

The Guelph Police Service would like to encourage the public to always consume alcohol and cannabis responsibly. Please don’t drive if you are going to consume alcohol or cannabis, and please ensure that you plan ahead so that you have a safe ride home. Anyone who spots a suspected impaired driver is asked to immediately call 911.
