Assault, Weapons Charges After Knife Confrontation

A Guelph man faces assault and weapons charges after another man was confronted with a knife Friday afternoon.

Just before 2:30 p.m. police were called to an apartment building near Neeve Street and Wellington Street East. A witness reported two males arguing in a hallway and one had a large kitchen knife in his hand. During the argument one of the males held the knife in the air and repeatedly stabbed the wall next to the other’s head. The males were known to each other.

A 30-year-old Guelph man was located in the area and arrested. He is charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon and uttering threats. He was held for a bail hearing and has been released to appear in court September 1, 2023.
