Attempted Theft of Jeep in South-end Guelph

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after the owner of a Jeep apparently foiled a theft Thursday morning.

Just before 5 a.m. police were called to an address near Clairfields Drive West and Gibbs Crescent. The owner of a Jeep Wrangler reported when she used the remote starter the vehicle’s four-way lights began flashing. The vehicle’s passenger door was found to be open and items had been removed from the glovebox.

Surveillance video showed two males approaching the vehicle approximately 4:45 a.m., lifting the hood and then entering the vehicle from both sides.

After the vehicle was started the two males were seen running away towards a white SUV, possibly a Jaguar, parked just down the street. One male was wearing grey jogging pants and a black jacket and the other was wearing all black.
