Big Wins in Guelph: Two Residents Score Lotto Prizes

Johann Bowen of Guelph won “Ontario’s jackpot” – $827,972.90 in the May 3, 2025 LOTTARIO draw.

Johann, who works as a machinist, says this is his first major win and he enjoys playing many lottery games. “This was a regular weekend purchase. I don’t check my tickets very often,” he shared while at the OLG Prize Centre. “I checked my ticket while at home and I was shocked when I saw the winning amount!”

The 46-year-old shared the news with his uncle right away. “He was shocked as well. He kept asking me if I’m sure I won!” Johann laughed. “I told my wife right away too and she was very happy.”

“It feels so exciting and gives so much potential. It’s life changing and will make life much easier,” he concluded.

The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K on Paisley Road in Guelph.

Scott David Fasano of Guelph can “find his possible” after winning a LOTTO 6/49 prize worth $1 million in the Gold Ball Draw on August 2, 2025.

Scott, who works for the City of Guelph, has been a regular lottery player with OLG for about five years. His go-to games are LOTTO MAX and LOTTO 6/49. Now, the 34-year-old is overjoyed to be celebrating his first big win and the excitement of becoming a millionaire!

One day, while running some errands, Scott stopped by the store to check his LOTTO 6/49 ticket. “I shut the machine down,” he recalled while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect his winnings.

Scott thought of a fun way to share the great news with his wife. “I called her and asked what we’d do with $1 million,” he chuckled. “We sat on the news for a bit to digest it before sharing it with our friends.”

When asked how it feels to win big, he said, “It’s crazy! Sitting here at the Prize Centre, I still can’t believe it!”

Scott plans to continue working and says he’ll enjoy the security this win will provide for his family’s future. “Maybe we’ll take a couple of trips next year,” he concluded with a smile.

LOTTO 6/49 offers players a chance to win two multi-million dollar jackpots every Wednesday and Saturday, for the same $3 per play.

The Classic Draw offers a fixed $5 million jackpot for every draw, while the Gold Ball Draw guarantees a $1 million prize, or the growing jackpot that starts at $10 million and can exceed $60 million. Click here for more information about the new LOTTO 6/49.

The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K on Gordon Street in Guelph.
