A major Toronto Blue Jays victory this week brought back heartfelt memories for one Guelph family and Sportsnet’s Blue Jays Central host, Jamie Campbell.
Shortly after Toronto clinched a spot in the American League Championship Series with a 5-2 win over the New York Yankees in New York, Campbell shared a photo on X featuring himself with Guelph’s Ryan Driscoll. The picture was taken earlier this year when Driscoll’s final wish to attend a Blue Jays game was granted.
The outing took place on July 2 at Rogers Centre — fittingly against the Yankees. Dressed in full Blue Jays gear, Driscoll watched his team secure a win and move into first place in the division. “That night, the #BlueJays beat the Yankees, took first place, and never looked back,” Campbell wrote. “He died eleven days later. I choose to believe Ryan had something to do with this. Nice work kid!”
This was July 2. Ryan Driscoll’s last request was to attend one more game. That night, the #BlueJays beat the Yankees, took first place, and never looked back. He died eleven days later. I choose to believe Ryan had something to do with this. Nice work kid! ❤️ pic.twitter.com/586HPRsLUc

Ryan’s mother, Colleen, responded to the post with gratitude, writing that their family was “gifted the most magical night July 2nd.” She added, “Will always hold a huge amount of love and gratitude for @SNETCampbell and @BlueJays. We are beyond excited to see the magic continue for the @BlueJays. Keep shining down Ry!!! Go Jays Go!”
The Blue Jays’ latest victory not only advanced them to the next playoff round but also served as a reminder of how one young fan’s passion for his team continues to inspire those who knew him.
