Listen to this article

The Guelph Police Service continues to investigate after two cruisers were intentionally struck during a traffic stop early Sunday morning.

Approximately 2:45 a.m. officers on patrol observed a vehicle leaving an address on Willow Road. Queries of the licence plate revealed the owner was wanted for breaching a release order and was subject to house arrest.

Officers conducted a traffic stop nearby, with cruisers stopping in front of and behind the vehicle. The driver reversed, striking one cruiser, then drove forward and hit the other before exiting the vehicle and fleeing on foot. No injuries were sustained.

A canine track was conducted but the male was not located. A 31-year-old Guelph male is wanted for dangerous driving, flight from police, failing to stop at a collision and breaching a release order.
