Caught Driving Stolen Tractor While Impaired

A Guelph man faces charges after he was caught driving a stolen tractor while impaired.

Approximately 3 a.m. Sunday, an officer on patrol spotted a tractor with plow attachment being driven on Wellington Street West near McCrae Boulevard. The tractor was stopped and the driver observed to be showing signs of impairment. He was arrested and transported to the police station, where tests confirmed his ability to operate a vehicle was impaired by drugs.

A 20-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving and possessing stolen property over $5,000. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the tractor was seized. He will appear in court January 5.

The Guelph Police Service would like to encourage the public to always consume alcohol and cannabis responsibly. Please don’t drive if you are going to consume alcohol or cannabis, and please ensure that you plan ahead so that you have a safe ride home. Anyone who spots a suspected impaired driver is asked to immediately call 911.
