A truck driver and his employer face charges after a heavy load fell off a truck Tuesday morning.
Approximately 9:25 a.m. a truck was turning onto Wellington Street West from the Hanlon Expressway. During the turn, a load weighing more than 6,600 kilograms broke free and fell onto the road, causing several deep gouges in the asphalt. Fortunately no injuries were reported.
The driver, a 60-year-old Durham Region male, is charged with driving with an insecure load and failing to secure a load in accordance with regulations. A Durham Region company is charged with permitting a commercial motor vehicle to operate with an unsecured load.Â
