Listen to this article

A Guelph female faces charges after a male and his dog were both assaulted Thursday afternoon.

Approximately 4:40 p.m., a male was walking his dog downtown when a female unknown to him approached and began throwing flowers at the dog. The male asked her to stop, at which point the female kicked the dog in the snout causing it to yelp in pain.

When the male started calling 911, the female slapped him in the face then walked away. She was located by officers minutes later.

A 30-year-old Guelph female is charged with assault and cruelty to animals. Investigation revealed the female is already facing an assault charge after a stranger was punched in the neck earlier this month outside a west-end business. She was held for a bail hearing Friday.
