DNA Ties Brantford Man to Stolen Pickup Truck

A Brantford man was arrested Thursday after he was linked by DNA to a stolen pickup recovered in Guelph 18 months ago.

On December 19, 2022, Guelph Police Service officers located a 2018 Ram pickup parked on an east-end street. Investigation revealed the truck had been reported stolen more than two weeks earlier from Hamilton.

Evidence located inside the vehicle was sent to the Centre of Forensic Science for DNA analysis, which eventually was linked to someone on the national DNA databank.

On Thursday a 36-year-old Brantford man was arrested and charged with possessing stolen property over $5,000, being an occupant of a stolen vehicle and breaching a probation order. He is in custody and will next appear in court June 10.
