Downtown Arrest on Warrants Leads to Weapons Charge

A Guelph man faces a weapons charge after he was arrested Thursday on outstanding warrants.

Just before 2 p.m. Guelph Police Service officers were patrolling downtown when they spotted a man known to be wanted on two different warrants for breaching court orders. He was placed under arrest and a subsequent search revealed a wood-handled knife and collapsible baton.

A 41-year-old Guelph man is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, three counts of breaching probation and two counts of failing to appear for fingerprinting. He will appear in court March 15.
