Downtown Business Staff Assaulted; Large Head Laceration

An employee of a downtown business needed stitches after she was struck in the forehead with a cellphone Friday.

Around noon a woman was being disruptive inside the business by playing music loudly on her phone, annoying other customers. When an employee asked her to turn it off the woman became enraged and started yelling at the employee and other customers.

The employee asked the woman to leave, but the woman grabbed the employee by her shirt and struck her in the forehead with the phone, opening a large laceration which required stitches.

The accused was located a short time later and arrested. A 42-year-old Guelph woman is charged with assault causing bodily harm. She will appear in court January 12.
