Downtown Guelph Assault and Weapons Charges

A Guelph male faces assault and weapons charges following an altercation downtown Wednesday morning.

Approximately 8 a.m., two males known to each other were involved in a verbal argument at Wyndham Street North and Macdonell Street. As one male turned to leave, the other spit on him and punched him in the shoulder.

The suspect was located by police a short time later and arrested. During a search incident to arrest officers located a small knife in his pocket.

A 27-year-old Guelph male is charged with assault, carrying a concealed weapon and disobeying a court order. He was held for a bail hearing Friday.
