A Guelph male faces drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop.
On Sunday morning, police were notified of a possible impaired driver in a commercial parking lot on Speedvale Avenue East. A male was located passed out in a parked vehicle. Officers noted signs of potential impairment and placed the male under arrest.
A search incident to arrest revealed three knives and a small amount of suspected crystal methamphetamine. The male was examined by an officer trained in drug evaluations, who determined his ability to operate a motor vehicle was not impaired.
A 39-year-old Guelph male is charged with possessing a controlled substance and three counts of possessing a prohibited weapon. He will appear in a Guelph court July 25, 2023.
