Employee Charged with Stealing $18,000 in Chicken

A Guelph man has been arrested after allegedly stealing approximately $18,000 worth of cooked chicken from his former employer.

In early May, staff of a local grocery store reported an employee had been terminated following an internal investigation. Between December and May the man worked in the hot food section and was observed stealing or giving away cooked chicken to customers and friends and taking product home without paying for it.

A 33-year-old Guelph man was arrested Monday and charged with theft over $5,000. He will appear in court July 12.
