What began as a request for free cups quickly escalated into an alleged assault at a Guelph drive-thru. Police are asking the public for help identifying the suspect involved.
A restaurant owner contacted Guelph Police Service after an employee was assaulted at work. The employee was working at the drive through window when a male, who was not purchasing anything, asked for a quantity of empty cups for free.
The employee advised they were not permitted to provide free cups under restaurant policy, at which point the male became belligerent. He began calling the employee names and then spat on them before driving away.
The male is described as black, with long dreadlocks with blond tips, driving a grey subcompact crossover SUV. The restaurant is located in the area of Silvercreek Parkway North and Speedvale Avenue West.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Emma Turney at 519-824-1212, ext. 7438, eturney@guelphpolice.ca, leave an anonymous message for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or leave an anonymous tip online at www.csgw.tips. (Occurrence number GU26034533)
