Fake $50 Bills Thrown in Traffic Wreaks Havoc

Listen to this article

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a male threw fake cash onto a busy road Tuesday evening.

Police started getting calls just after 8:30 p.m. about a male possibly throwing $50 bills onto the road on Edinburgh Road South near Wilsonview Avenue and then walking away.

Several people stopped their cars and ran into the street to pick them up before realizing they were fake. The fake bills said “film prop” on them according to one caller.

The male was described as white, 30 years of age and wearing a yellow t-shirt, shorts and a backpack and had a large dog with him. Although fortunately no injuries were reported this created a very unsafe situation and police would like to speak to the male involved. If anyone has information they are asked to contact Constable Jay Hall via email at jthall@guelphpolice.ca.
