Fake Name Leads to Real Charges

A Guelph woman faces several obstruction charges after repeatedly providing a fake name during several interactions with police.

Approximately 11 a.m. Monday police were investigating an unrelated matter downtown when they spoke to a woman who refused to properly identify herself. She was detained and eventually identified through police records, which revealed she was wanted for failing to attend court.


While in custody, the woman provided different dates of birth. Through investigation, her true name and date of birth were learned and it was determined she had provide a false name while being arrested by Guelph Police Service officers in September and November of this year.

A 39-year-old Guelph woman is charged with three counts of obstructing police and failing to attend court. She was held for a bail hearing Tuesday.
