False Gun Claim Leads to Charges

Listen to this article

Two Guelph males face criminal charges after falsely claiming a neighbour pointed a gun at them Tuesday night.

Just after 9 p.m., police responded to a west-end neighbourhood after a homeowner and a tenant each called 911 to report the incident. Officers located the neighbour outside and he was detained while police conducted the investigation.

The two neighbours provided various accounts of what happened and at one point denied calling police. Eventually officers determined the alleged incident had not happened. There are a number of neighbour disputes on file between the males.

Two Guelph males, aged 62 and 55, are charged with public mischief. They were released with November court dates.
