Listen to this article

A Guelph woman faces more than 80 charges following an investigation into someone ripping off their employer.

The Guelph Police Service was contacted by a south-end retail business in mid-June. A representative of the business indicated they had been investigating suspicious transactions during which 84 refunds had been credited to two debit or credit cards belonging to an employee. The refunds totalled more than $11,500.

The employee, who had worked for the business for nearly two years, had since been let go.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, an 18-year-old Guelph woman is charged with 84 counts of fraud under $5,000. She will appear in court August 23, 2023.
