
Guelph Cyclist Wins Gold at Pan Am Games

The excitement shows no signs of abating for a cyclist from Guelph.
Kiara Lylyk secured the top spot at the Pan Am Games in Santiago, Chile, competing in the women’s team pursuit on Wednesday.
The quartet completed the event in four minutes and 23 seconds, outpacing Mexico, who came in second, by seven seconds.
“Congratulations @KiaraLylyk and team Canada!!,” Kiara’s dad Dave posted on X shortly after the win.

“You have represented our city and our country (amazingly),” mayor Cam Guthrie said in a video posted to X.
Stephen Harris of Guelph narrowly missed a medal finish in the rowing competition.

He was a member of the mixed eight rowing team that clocked in at five minutes and 58.70 seconds, finishing just fractions of a second behind Cuba, who claimed the third spot.
Harris also earned a fifth-place standing in the men’s lightweight double sculls event.
