Guelph Eramosa Fire Department Raises $15,000 for Research

Listen to this article

On June 17th, the Guelph Eramosa Fire Department held their first annual golf tournament to raise money for Ovarian Cancer Research.

The firefighter association did a tremendous amount of work and everyone had a fantastic day at Wildwinds Golf Links just north of Rockwood. The course was in fantastic shape and we had a perfect day.

Tonight at fire practice, Kurt McArthur, president of the firefighter’s association presented a cheque for $15,000 to the lab of Jim Petrik along with his students Sylvia Lauks, Bianca Garlisi, Duncan Petrik, and Caroline Aitken.

Petrik’s lab at the University of Guelph is working on developing new therapies for advanced stage ovarian cancer and 100% of the money raised from the golf tournament will be used to fund this cutting-edge research.

Thanks to everyone involved for such a great event!
