Guelph Female Charged with Downtown Arson

Listen to this article

A Guelph female has been charged with arson after two garbage bins were set on fire outside a downtown business earlier this month.

Emergency services were called approximately 1:20 a.m. June 5 to Wilson Street, where the bins were burning. They were extinguished quickly and there was no damage reported to the business.

A female was located in the area and questioned. Video surveillance was later located which showed a female standing in front of the bins immediately before flames are seen. The same female was located Sunday morning after a witness reported someone setting tissues on fire downtown.

A 44-year-old Guelph female is charged with arson. She was held for a bail hearing and has been released to appear in a Guelph court June 30, 2023.
