Guelph Man Loses $2K in Sextortion

Residents are reminded not to share intimate images online after a Guelph man lost $2,000.

On Saturday the victim contacted police. He advised he had begun chatting online a few days earlier with someone he believed to be a woman. During the chat he sent a nude photo.

The suspect then threatened to post the photo unless the victim sent $2,000, which he did. When she demanded more money, the victim declined and blocked her on all social media apps.

Residents are encouraged not to share intimate images online, especially with anyone they do not personally know.
