Dispute Leads To Arrest
On May 15th, 2023, at 5:30pm, an adult male attended to a business located near the intersection of Elmira Road North and Massey Road in the City of Guelph. The male was upset regarding his recent employment termination. While on scene, he threatened to burn the business down and used a marker to write on the windows of the business. The male then left the area.
At 9pm, the male attended to the owner’s residence located near the intersection of Victoria Road South and Elizabeth Street. While confronting the owner, he dumped a drink on him, punched him in the head and threatened to kill him and his family. The male then left the area.
At 10:20pm, police found the male at a residence located near the intersection of Imperial Road South and Wellington Street West. He was subsequently arrested.
A 31-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:
- Utter Threats To Cause Damage To Property
- Mischief Under $5,000
- Assault
- Utter Threats To Cause Death
- Breach Probation x2
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing on May 16th.
Please note that the victim did not require medical treatment.
Commercial Break In
On May 16th, at 5:02am, the Guelph Police Service was contacted regarding a break and enter in progress at a commercial property located near the intersection of Scottsdale Drive and Stone Road West in the City of Guelph. An adult male had entered the underground parking garage of the property and was accessing the building through the elevators.
Police arrived on scene and at 5:13am, observed the male flee the building on foot.
At 5:14am, the male was arrested a short distance away.
A search incident to arrest revealed:
- Break and enter tools including a lock picking set and wire cutters
- Mail not in the male’s name
A 29-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:
- Break, Enter A Place With Intent To Commit Indictable Offence
- Possession Of Break In Instruments
- Possession Of Property Obtained By Crime
- Breach Probation
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing on May 16th.
Shoplifting Investigation
On May 11th, 2023, at 11:14pm, an adult male entered a store located in the downtown core of the City of Guelph. He then selected merchandise and left without paying.
On May 15th, at 1:20pm, police located the male in the downtown core. He was subsequently arrested.
A 27-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:
- Theft Under $5,000
- Breach Probation x3
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing on May 16th.
Female Arrested For Failing To Attend Court
On May 15th, 2023, at 4:29pm, police located an adult female in the downtown core of the City of Guelph who had failed to attend court in regards to the following criminal charges:
- Theft Under $5,000
- Fail To Attend Court
She was subsequently arrested.
A 27-year-old Guelph female has been additionally charged with Fail To Attend Court.
She was held in custody pending a bail hearing on May 16th.
Speed Enforcement
On May 15th, 2023, at 4:02pm, police began conducting speed enforcement near the intersection of Arkell Road and Victoria Road South in the City of Guelph. In just over an hour, three Provincial Offence Notices were issued for speeding.
The Guelph Police Service would like to encourage the public to slow down and follow the rules of the road to help ensure everyone arrives to their destination safely.
