Noise Dispute Leads To Arrests

On May 6th, 2023, at 2:27pm, an adult male carrying a baseball bat entered the hallway of a residential building located near the intersection of Dawson Road and Willow Road in the City of Guelph, to confront another adult male about noise. During the argument he proceeded to move the baseball bat in a threatening manner. The argument turned physical and resulted in the male with the baseball bat sustaining a broken jaw from a punch.

Both males were subsequently arrested.

A 36-year-old Bowmanville male has been charged with Assault Cause Bodily Harm.

He will appear in court on June 16th.

A 39-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:

  • Assault With A Weapon
  • Possession Of A Weapon For A Dangerous Purpose

He will appear in court on June 7th. He was also transported to the Guelph General Hospital for medical treatment.

Theft From Vehicle Leads To Fraud Charges

Some time overnight on September 19th, 2022, a motor vehicle that was parked in the parking lot of a residential building located near the downtown core of the City of Guelph was entered. Entry was gained as the passenger window was smashed. Numerous items were taken including a blank cheque in the name of the registered owner of the vehicle.

On January 25th, 2023, an adult male filled out the cheque in his name.

On January 29th, at 10:23pm, he deposited the cheque in the ATM of a bank located near the intersection of Eramosa Road and Stevenson Street North.

On January 30th, the bank deposited the money in his account.

On May 5th, at 4:44pm, police located the male in the downtown core, and he was subsequently arrested.

A 77-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:

  • Make A Document Without Authority
  • Utter Forged Document
  • Fraud Under $5,000

He will appear in court on July 11th.

Stolen Honda Accord

On May 8th, 2023, just before 5:53am, an adult male parked a gold 2004 Honda Accord in a commercial parking lot located near the intersection of Silvercreek Parkway North and Speedvale Avenue West in the City of Guelph. The vehicle was left unlocked and running while the male entered a store. While in the store, the vehicle was taken.

Male Facing More Charges After Disobeying Conditions

On March 10th, 2023, an adult male failed to attend court in regards to numerous criminal charges.

The male subsequently also failed to appear at the Guelph Police Service station for fingerprinting.

On May 6th, at 9:31pm, police located the male in the downtown core of the City of Guelph, and he was subsequently arrested.

A 45-year-old Guelph male is now charged with:

  • Utter Threats To Damage Property
  • Theft Under $5,000 x2
  • Mischief Under $5,000 x2
  • Fail to Re-Attend Court
  • Fail To Comply With Undertaking x4

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing on May 7th, and was subsequently released.

Public Tip Leads To Impaired Driving Arrest

On May 6th, 2023, at 3:57am, a concerned citizen contacted the Guelph Police Service regarding a possible impaired driver in the downtown core of the City of Guelph.

At 4:11am, police located the motor vehicle driving near the intersection of Paisley Road and Edinburgh Road North. A traffic stop was initiated and at 4:15am, the adult male driver was arrested.

A 41-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration

His driver’s license was suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

He will appear in court on May 23rd.
