A traffic stop Thursday evening resulted in the seizure of nearly $30,000 in illicit substances.
Members of the Guelph Police Service Break Enter Auto Theft (BEAT) Unit conducted surveillance on a male known to them. The male was on a release order including conditions to remain in his residence 24 hours a day and not operate a motor vehicle.
As officers watched, the male drove to several locations around the city. Officers conducted a traffic stop when it was safe to do so, at which point a female was driving and the male was in the passenger seat. Both were placed under arrest.
During a search incident to arrest officers located large amounts of fentanyl, cocaine and MDMA with a total estimated value of $29,500.
A 29-year-old Guelph male and 31-year-old Guelph female are jointly charged with three counts of possessing controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking. The male is also charged with two counts of breaching a release order. Both were held for bail hearings Friday.
