Guelph Stunt Driving Charge 92km/h in a 40km/h Zone

Two motorists were taken off the road Monday after they were each caught driving close to double the speed limit.

Approximately 9:45 a.m. a member of the Guelph Police Service Traffic Unit was conducting enforcement on Victoria Road North near Woodlawn Road East when he clocked a vehicle travelling 92 km/h in a posted 40 km/h zone. A 23-year-old Mississauga male is charged with stunt driving.

Just after 11:30 a.m. the same officer was patrolling on Victoria Road North at Grange Street when he clocked a vehicle travelling 91 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone. A 31-year-old Guelph female is charged with stunt driving.

Both motorists had their licences suspended immediately for 30 days and their vehicles impounded for 14 days. Those convicted of stunt driving in Ontario face a minimum one-year driving prohibition and $2,000 fine.
