A Guelph teen faces several charges after a police officer was kicked in the face and a telephone at the police station destroyed on the weekend.
Approximately 3:30 a.m. Saturday, police were notified of a male yelling at a female in the area of College Avenue West and Edinburgh Road South. The two were located, but as officers attempted to investigate the male continually interfered to prevent them from speaking to the female.
Eventually the male was arrested for obstructing police. He became assaultive, attempting to head-butt one of the officers before kicking him in the face. The officer was not seriously injured.
At the police station, the male became angry during a telephone call with his father and tore the phone from the wall, rendering it unusable.
A 15-year-old Guelph male is charged with causing a disturbance, obstructing police, assaulting police and mischief under $5,000. He was held for a bail hearing and has been released to appear in court July 26, 2023.
