Guelph Woman Caught Driving Stolen Car

A Guelph woman faces several charges after she was caught Tuesday driving a stolen car.

Just before 1 p.m., members of the Guelph Police Service Break Enter Auto Theft Unit observed a Hyundai SUV being driven on Woolwich Street and learned it had been reported stolen last week. It was followed to a parking lot near Victoria Road South and York Road, where the driver was arrested after exiting the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle revealed a small baggie of suspected methamphetamine, as well as clothing and shoes with the tags still attached believed to be stolen from two stores.

A 30-year-old Guelph woman is charged with possessing stolen property over $5,000, possessing stolen property under $5,000, possessing a controlled substance, driving while prohibited and breach of probation. She was held for a bail hearing Wednesday.
