Impaired Charge After Refusing Sample

A Cambridge male faces an impaired driving charge after he refused to provide a breath sample early Friday.

Just after 2:30 a.m. police were informed of a possible impaired driver leaving the downtown. The vehicle was stopped near Wellington Street West and Edinburgh Road South. The driver had an odour of alcoholic beverage on his breath and was showing signs of impairment, but refused requests to provide a breath sample.

A 29-year-old Cambridge male is charged with refusing to comply with a breath demand. His licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle, which was not registered to him, was impounded for 14 days. He will appear in court August 11, 2023.
