A Guelph man is charged with impaired driving after he was located passed out behind the wheel Monday.
Approximately 9:40 a.m. a witness reported a van driving slowly and swerving from side to side on Maltby Road. When the van eventually came to a stop the witness passed it and noted the driver looked to be unconscious. The witness stopped and called 911.
The driver was transported to hospital, where officers found him sleeping and oblivious to efforts by medical staff to wake him. The male eventually woke and was showing clear signs of impairment, speaking quickly then dozing off.
A 44-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving. His licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded. He will appear in court January 5.
The Guelph Police Service would like to encourage the public to always consume alcohol and cannabis responsibly. Please don’t drive if you are going to consume alcohol or cannabis, and please ensure that you plan ahead so that you have a safe ride home.
