
Individual Posing as Rideshare Driver Charged with Assault

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have been investigating a sexual assault by an individual posing as a rideshare driver. It was reported that on January 29, 2023, at approximately 1:15 a.m., the victims were waiting for their rideshare at an establishment on Woodlawn Road West, Guelph, when the suspect identified himself as their rideshare driver. The victims left with the driver and were sexually assaulted.
As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old of Guelph has been charged with two counts of sexual assault. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on July 14, 2023.
