Joy Ride Leads to Criminal Charge

A middle-of-the-night drive in his mother’s vehicle has led to a criminal charge for a Guelph teen.

Last Friday morning, the complainant called police. She said approximately 2:30 a.m. she was informed by a neighbour that her pickup truck was missing from her driveway. The complainant reviewed surveillance video and saw her son driving the truck away and then returning 30 minutes later.

A 14-year-old Guelph male is charged with taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent. He will appear in a Guelph court July 5, 2023.
