Knife Brandished; Guelph Dine & Dash

A male faces charges after a knife was brandished during an argument in a downtown restaurant Monday evening.

Approximately 6:15 p.m. police were called to a business near Macdonell Street and Wyndham Street North. Two males were involved in a loud argument, during which one of the males pulled out a 15-centimetre knife and began gesturing with it.

The male left the business and went to another nearby, where he consumed an alcoholic drink and left without paying. He was located by police a short distance away and observed to be wearing a large knife in a sheath on his hip.

A 43-year-old Guelph male is charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, fraud and breaching probation. He will appear in a Guelph court October 10.
