A London man has been arrested nearly three years after he drove a stolen car to Guelph and broke into five businesses in a single morning.
The morning of July 31, 2022, police received calls from businesses reporting the break-ins overnight. In each occurrence, glass front doors were smashed to gain entry. Minor thefts were reported from three of the businesses.
The suspect was captured on video at some of the businesses using a baseball bat to smash the doors. He was also seen driving a silver Mitsubishi which had been reported stolen from London several days earlier.
The incidents were investigated by the Guelph Police Service Break Enter Auto Theft unit, which was able to identify a suspect.
On Thursday a 42-year-old London man was arrested in another jurisdiction and charged with five counts of break and enter and one count of possessing stolen property over $5,000 in relation to the Guelph incidents. He remains in custody and will appear in Guelph court June 17.
