A Guelph male faces several charges after a car was stolen and recovered earlier this month.
On May 12, a 2016 Lexus was stolen from the area of the former Guelph Correctional Centre on York Road while the owner was taking a walk. The owner was able to track the vehicle via its GPS to a parking lot near Edinburgh Road North and Woodlawn Road West.
As the owner approached his car he observed it was running and there was a male sitting in the driver’s seat. The male exited the vehicle and ran away.
He was identified through subsequent investigation and Tuesday was arrested. During a search incident to arrest officers located a quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine.
A 37-year-old Guelph male is charged with possessing stolen property over $5,000, nine counts of driving while prohibited, possessing a controlled substance and breaching probation. He was held for a bail hearing Wednesday.
