Male Sleeping in Vehicle Arrested for Impaired

A Kitchener male found sleeping with his car in Drive was arrested Wednesday morning for impaired driving.

Just before 1 a.m. officers on patrol located a male sleeping in his vehicle outside a licensed establishment on Silvercreek Parkway South. The male was awakened and place the vehicle in Park. Officers immediately detected an odour of alcoholic beverage.

The male stepped from the vehicle and was unsteady on his feet. He failed a roadside breath test and was transported to the police station, where further testing confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.

A 24-year-old Kitchener male is charged with impaired driving. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He will appear in a Guelph court August 18, 2023.
