Man and Mom Charged with Obstructing Justice

Listen to this article

A Puslinch man and his mother are charged with obstructing justice after his girlfriend allegedly lied about his involvement in a serious collision more than two years ago.

In May, 2021, two vehicles were racing on Woolwich Street when one of them was involved in a five-vehicle collision which seriously injured a 14-year-old girl. The other vehicle fled the scene without stopping.

During the investigation, officers spoke to the girlfriend of the second driver who provided a statement minimizing her boyfriend’s involvement. Last week the girlfriend provided a second statement during which she alleged she had been encouraged by her boyfriend and his mother to provide a false account in 2021. On Saturday the two turned themselves in to police and were arrested.

A 22-year-old Puslinch man and his 51-year-old mother are charged with obstructing justice. They will appear in court January 5.
