A Guelph man faces charges after an employee of a downtown business was assaulted Wednesday morning.

Just before 9:30 a.m. police were called to the West Parkade for a male who was refusing to leave the area. Officers spoke to him and he did leave, but a short time later officers were called to another nearby business after the same male had assaulted an employee.

The male was located and advised he was under arrest, however he pulled away from officers and continued to resist. Eventually he was placed under arrest and transported to the police station.

A 29-year-old Guelph man is charged with assault, resisting arrest and failing to leave a premises when directed. He was held for a bail hearing and has been released to appear in court March 1.
