A Guelph man faces assault and weapons charges after a knife was pulled on three strangers Wednesday.
Just after noon police were called to the Conestoga College campus on Speedvale Avenue West for reports of a man inside the building brandishing a knife.
Investigation revealed three men in their 20s were walking on Speedvale Avenue when they were confronted by an older man, who began yelling obscenities at them while holding a silver knife. The three men ran into the college while being chased by the suspect. There were no physical injuries reported.
Officers arrived a short time later and located the suspect walking in the area. A 58-year-old Guelph man is charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and three counts of assault with a weapon. He was further charged with failing to attend court after it was determined he had a warrant for missing a court date last month. He was held for a bail hearing Thursday.
