Man Robs Unconscious Woman Downtown

A Guelph man who stole cash from an unconscious woman while pretending to help her was arrested Thursday.

Last November 30, an ambulance was called to assist an adult female who passed out on a bench inside Old Quebec Street Shoppes. When she awoke she reported cash had been removed from her belongings.

Surveillance video showed a male sitting beside her and pretending to assist while reaching into her plastic shopping bag and removing an envelope containing $300 cash. The male was identified by police and Thursday was located downtown and arrested.

A 33-year-old Guelph man is charged with theft under $5,000. He will appear in court February 27.
