Man Takes Roommate’s Car for Coffee Run and Crashes
A late-night coffee run led to criminal charges for a Guelph man early Thursday.
Just after 2 a.m., police were called to Edinburgh Road and Youngman Drive, where a vehicle had gone off the road and struck a hydro pole.
Investigation revealed a male was moving his roommate’s car so he could put out his waste bins when he decided to take the car to get a coffee before losing control.
A 23-year-old Guelph man is charged with taking a motor vehicle without consent, careless driving and being a novice driver with alcohol in his system. His driver’s licence was suspended for three days after he registered a warning on a roadside breath test. He will appear in court February 9.
