Man with BB Gun Downtown Arrested

A Guelph man faces several charges after he was found sleeping Thursday morning with what appeared to be a handgun in his pocket.

Shortly after 7 a.m. staff of a downtown social service agency called police after spotting a gun-shaped object in a client’s pocket. Officers arrived a short time later and observed the butt of a handgun in the sleeping man’s pocket.

An imitation Glock BB gun was seized and the male was arrested. A search incident to arrest revealed a container of BBs, four compressed carbon dioxide cylinders and 37 grams of suspected crack cocaine.

A 43-year-old Guelph man is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possessing a weapon contrary to a prohibition order, possessing a controlled substance and breaching probation. He was held for a bail hearing Friday.
