Men Arrested with $1,000 in Stolen Butter
Three Brampton men may have had their holiday baking plans interrupted after they were found in possession of more than $1,000 in stolen butter.
Shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday, police were called to a grocery store in the south end where two men had been observed placing a case of butter in a cart and walking out of the store to a waiting vehicle.
Responding officers checked nearby parking lots and found the vehicle outside another nearby grocery store. Two men in the vehicle were arrested along with a third man who exited the store and approached officers.
A witness reported the third male had abandoned a cart just outside the store. Officers checked the cart and found more stolen butter. In total officers recovered 144 sticks of butter and 17 containers of ghee butter.
Three Brampton men aged 40, 29 and 25 were arrested and charged with theft under $5,000. One of the males initially provided a false name and was further charged with obstructing police. All have been released with upcoming court dates.
