Mississauga Man Arrested in Previous Fraud

A Mississauga man has been arrested more than a year after fraudulently taking control of another man’s cellphone.

In July, 2023, a male attended a business inside Stone Road Mall posing as an Aurora male and was able to obtain a SIM card providing access to the victim’s phone. He placed the SIM card into another phone and gained access to all information contained on the victim’s phone, intercepting the victim’s emails and changing all his passwords.

On Tuesday, a 30-year-old Mississauga man attended the Guelph Police station and was arrested for identity fraud, intercepting private communications and two counts of unauthorized use of a computer. He will appear in court October 25.
